Director of Development

The Director of Development of Rebuilding Respect for Women (RRFW) will be a member of the executive team and will report to the CEO/President. The priorities for the role over the first year include:

  1. Establish RRFW's long-term strategic development plan in support of the overall development strategy
  2. Develop and coordinate action plans to implement the strategic plan of RRFW
  3. Drive revenue growth and diversification of funding for RRFW
  4. Provide central support for fundraising programs led by the wider team outside the US

Required competencies

  • Strategic Orientation: The successful candidate will have experience in articulating development strategies in a complex environment. The individual will have a track record translating global funding strategies into implementable actions. Additionally, the candidate will know how to establish a segmented target plan and deploy the relevant monitoring processes and metrics to drive the organization toward its financial goals.
  • Results Orientation: The successful candidate will display a strong results-orientation and an ability to drive the business forward by delivering agreed plans and targets. The successful candidate will have a personal track record of cultivation, solicitation, and closing major gifts. He/she will have a driven spirit and can remain upbeat and creative in a challenging business/donor climate. Strong customer orientation and hands-on attitude with regards to managing donor/partner relationships will be important.
  • Team Leadership and Collaboration: The successful candidate will possess the ability to inspire, enable, model and encourage a mission-driven global fundraising team. He/she will have demonstrated the ability to provide leadership and mentorship required to arm the team with effective and compelling strategies and tactics. The ideal candidate will have a history of success collaborating both internally and externally. His/her style will be collegial (not harsh or abrasive) and yet have a willingness to step up and drive change as needed.
  • International Development (programmatic/human) Background and Cultural Sensitivity: Experience of working in a global environment and knowledge of international development will be evident in the candidate's background. The select candidate will understand hunger and poverty issues as well as demonstrate the ability to be respectful and empathize with members of a diverse overseas team.
