Major Gift Officer

Reporting to the Vice President of Development, the Major Gifts Officer is responsible for securing major gift commitments ($100,000+).

The Major Gifts Officer will have the following responsibilities:
  • Build and manage a major gifts program to identify, cultivate, solicit and steward a portfolio of active major gifts prospects. Must focus on pipeline development to meet increasingly aggressive monthly, quarterly and annual fundraising goals.
  • Manage a fundraising program and represent these needs externally
  • Plan appropriate cultivation/stewardship activities to foster interaction between volunteers/donors.
  • Prepare written proposals to solicit prospects for gifts, using persuasive language to promote visionary gift opportunities.
  • Provide general assistance to the Vice President of Development in support of programs.

The successful candidate will have a well-developed vision and philosophy for fundraising , exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, the ability to work collegially and collaboratively in a team setting while being highly autonomous and to travel as required, personal integrity and the ability to inspire confidence and trust, decisiveness, optimism, resilience, dynamism, innovation, an entrepreneurial spirit, and a good sense of humor.

A bachelor's degree required as well as:
  • Strong organizational skills, including a commitment to and track record with both tactical and detailed fundraising planning
  • Good administrative skill set to include: excel, word and other basic tools for managing advance work necessary for travel
  • An Advanced Degree is preferred.
